I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Writer's picture: Debra AnsonDebra Anson

In Maya Angelou's poem “Caged Bird,” the caged bird sings because it yearns for freedom. Excessive alcohol use can be its own cage. People get trapped by  the mental obsession, the cravings, the planning, the hangovers, and the guilt. But there is a way out.

Ask Yourself?

-Have you ever felt the need to cut down on your drinking

-Have people criticizing your drinking?

-Have you ever felt bad or guilty about your drinking?

-Have you ever had a drink first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, let’s explore how we can get you free again.
